- What is Collagen
Collagen is a fibrous protein which exists in the skin, bones, internal organs such as blood vessels, retina (eye) and teeth of human body. Its’ function is to glue cells together which is very important factor to organize body structure. Furthermore it plays the role of supplying the cells oxygen and nutrition as well ass serves as a path (passage) that facilitates the transportation of carbonic acid gas and waste out of body.

Smell & taste is caused by chemical reaction in the food. Hanamai Collagen is however free from smell and taste due to the repeated heating and filtering process that helps eliminate unpleasant smell and taste.
- What is the refining process
We use batch-extract method, where temperature during heating process is gradually increased by 10ºC unit from 60ºC.
- Why is it not produced in tablet form
Pure collagen cannot be solidified into tablet without using Silicic Acid. Using Silicic Acid would result in less percentage of collagen and higher production cost.
- What about Vegetable Collagen
Collagen only exists in animal protein. It cannot be extracted from vegetables.
- What about Vegetable Collagen being sold in the market
Vegetable Pectin is similar to collagen and is being sold as collagen. However, the nutritional values are totally different, therefore it is impossible to reproduce collagen even by eating vegetable Pectin. Japan Gelatin Manufacture Association has issued warning to Importers and Retailers for misleading “Label Indication” Standards.

- What is the most effective way to consume Collagen
It can be consume anytime with any food either liquid or solid. Continuos use is , however, important.
- What if consumed excessively
It’s a kind of protein and excess volume is excreted through urine.
- Is it effective without Vitamin C
It’s more effective to take collagen with Vitamin C. Collagen alone is also effective. It is, however, recommended to take collagen with fruit juice, vegetable juice or green tea.
- Why it has to be 3 – 5 g
Human metabolism consumes collagen everyday. Considering average intake of protein including collagen and consumption of collagen, 3g to 5g collagen must be supplemented to cover the shortage.
